Friends Stand on Third Country Agreement
Toronto Monthly Meeting’s Refugee Committee is deeply concerned about the consequences of Canada's Safe Third Country Agreement (STCA) with the United States, an agreement that requires asylum seekers to make a refugee claim in the first country of the two in which they arrive. We have written a letter to the Minister of Immigration, Ahmed Hussen, to express our concern on this subject. We have also created a pamphlet to inform asylum seekers coming from the U.S. about the STCA, its exceptions, and risks of irregular entry. Please view the links below:
