Friends Stand on Third Country Agreement

​Toronto Monthly Meeting’s Refugee Committee is deeply concerned about the consequences of Canada's Safe Third Country Agreement (STCA) with the United States, an agreement that requires asylum seekers to make a refugee claim in the first country of the two in which they arrive. We have written a letter to the Minister of Immigration, Ahmed Hussen, to express our concern on this subject. We have also created a pamphlet to inform asylum seekers coming from the U.S. about the STCA, its exceptions, and risks of irregular entry. Please view the links below:
