General Rental Information
Dining Room - seats up to 30 people
Friends House welcomes applications for use of its meeting rooms by non-profit organizations whose aims are in sympathy with Quaker concerns and social action. Favourable consideration is given to a group or organization which has a very close connection with the Society of Friends, or where discrimination or other reasons prevent the obtaining of accommodation elsewhere, providing the group does not advocate activities contrary to the Faith and Practice of the Society of Friends.
Meeting Room - seats up to 130 people
Fees for the use of meeting space at Friends House are set to contribute to the upkeep of the house and ensure their continuing availability. Consideration can be made for those groups unable to make the fees. Click on the link to the booking pamphlet (above) for fees or call the Resident Friend at 416-921-0368.
Completed application forms need to be returned to the Resident Friend along with a cover letter and relevant information about the organization. Please include adescription of group's mandate and the types of events the rooms will be used for. A clearing committee will consider all applications, a process that can take up to two weeks.
Friends House Cancellation Policy: Groups that cancel bookings with less than two weeks’ notice will be asked to pay 50% of the cost, if the booked rooms are unable to be booked by another group within that time. Groups that cancel bookings with less than one weeks notice will be asked to pay the full rate.

Sun Room - seats up to 8 people
For bookings made far in advance of the requested date, Friends House reserves the right to request a deposit. Groups wishing to use space on a regular on-going basis must go to the Monthly Meeting for approval. It may take eight weeks or more to process. Such approvals are unusual and may require a presentation to the Monthly Meeting. Regular long-term agreements should not be regarded as permanent.
In the unlikely event of an unexpected and inflexible congregational need, Friends House reserves the right to rearrange or cancel a booking.
Second Floor Lounge - seats up to 20 people
Charging an admission or registration fee or requesting donations is acceptable but each group should provide a space for a Friend without cost, with appropriate exceptions, and provision should be made for some persons with limited incomes.
Friends welcome joint meetings with other groups in the House. Meetings of other religious groups should be approved in advance by Toronto Monthly Meeting.
Someone from the group should be delegated to arrive early; greet participants, organize clean-up, and check with the on-duty Resident Friend before leaving. While the Resident Friend may be available to help, groups should expect to arrange the chairs in the meeting room as they need them. Aside from the layout of chairs, groups are asked to leave the facilities as they are found. Any use of the first-floor kitchen must be approved in advance by the Resident Friend. When using the kitchen facilities, all clean-up and dish-washing are the responsibility of the group that booked the use.
With the aim of reducing waste, groups who enlist catering services are encouraged to use Friends House' own cutlery and utensils, as opposed to disposable ones. Groups are also asked to encourage their participants to dispose of waste correctly in the provided recycling, organic and garbage containers that are provided.
No pets are allowed except service dogs. No firearms are permitted on the premises. No smoking or alcohol is permitted on the premises, including the front yard, back yard, and garden. The Resident Friend has a wide range of responsibilities and cannot necessarily respond immediately to the needs of all users of the House. Since Friends House is a busy place where a number of people work, study, meet, and play, all users of the House are expected to be respectful and flexible in order to accommodate the needs of others in the House.
